here are some pics i took today. some of the plants i ordered arrived yesterday afternoon. awaiting for more. also currently cycling tank. current params are 4 ppm ammonia, 2 nitrites and 10 nitrates.
middle of the tank. sandbed and glosso. i became lazy and stopped planting the glosso. it'll spread throughout the tank....eventually.

well..heres the update right now
riccia came by mail today so i tied it down to some rocks. over the 3 days of being inside the package, the riccia kind of yellowed. i hope they thrive. still waiting on taiwan moss to come. no pics today because not much has changed yet.
and my cycling seem to be doing well also. 2 ppm ammonia, 4 ppm nitrites, and 10 ppm nitrates. hurry my lil' bacteria!

cotton like clumps on the moss with blackish fuzz..staghorn and bba?
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f338/BkzDumbest/P1010528.jpg
on the root of blyxa japonica staghorn?
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f338/BkzDumbest/P1010531.jpg
a nice algae farm :dance2:. think i have black beard algae with staghorn some green spot algae and some blue green algae on sand. going to get some flourish excel on monday. my co2 levels were too low and my plants consumed all of the nutrients in the water, hence the algae outbreak. i tested my nitrates today and the results were 0. ill have to dose more nitrates from now on. im not too sure on what my phosphate levels are so ill see if i can find a test kit for that too.

very cool! i was thinking about doing angels in a 55, but i was under the impression altums would be too big???
what would happen if you had a combo of P. scalare with P. altums?
anyways, awesome job.

they just grow taller than p. scalares. i doubt anything will happen if you mix both species together. its just that p scalares are probably more hardier to keep.
thanks for the comments everyone.:D

Right on... well good luck with your angels... i think the idea of wild angels is awesome too...
i'll probably end up going with the P. scalares...
sad day for my 55g tank.. last night i turned off the 6 outlet powerstrip to do some maintenance. i forgot to turn the power back on after i was done and went off to bed. this morning when i woke up, the temperature has dropped from 82 to 70. the water in the tank was cloudy. and the worst thing possible is that i lost one of my angelfish due to my carelessness. i did an 80% water change and tested the water. results were 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and 0 nitrates.
:( :bowing: RIP ANGEL. im sorry.

3 out of 12 cardinal tetras remain since that picture. no bodies were ever found. 2 out of 5 angels still thriving. lots of territorial issues between the two though. all the other fish are doing great. only one out of the 7 congo tetras turned out out to be male. also, my plecos mated not long ago.
