going on 10 days and still NO nitrites. is this normal at all? The tank does have plants. The ammonia is gowing down and never got high (was at ~1ppm when fish were added to the originally fishless cycle...rescued 2 fish. it went up to 1.5ppm, then slowly back down to 1.0-0.75. before the fish, was up to 3-4 ppm).
