Yesterday I bought some "Stability" (live bacteria) for my tank. It was recommended to me by the owner of my LFS. I added some last night and this morning. Hopefully this will help speed up my biological filteration, as indicated on the bottle.

These are my readings as of today:

Temp: 78.2
PH: 8.2
Ammonia: .20
Nitrate: 5ppm

I have a canister filter, protein skimmer, and two power heads all going.

I tried to feed my eel again, he came out to check out what I had, but still wasn't interested. I turned the lights off in my tank as well to hopefully give him/her a more stressfree environment. Intense lights can be exactly that "intense."

So hopefully with the live bacteria, moon lighting, and no more disruptions for a couple of days, my eel will be interested in eating by this weekend?! I don't know how long they can go without food. My LFS said he's okay right now because it is 1 1/2 feet long and with a girth of an adult thumb.

I've decided not to add any more live rock at least for a couple of days since that may or may not add to the stress of the tank. No more water changes for the rest of the week either.

Good stuff...hopefully, once things have settled, your eel will start to pick at at food again..To be honest, i would not use the "Stability" bacteria, it does not really need it...Cycles should not really be rushed or forced. Nature will take its own hold on the system and it will be just fine...

Keep us posted on the water test results please..Ammonia a little high...But am sure it will come back down to zero'ish soon...

by the way... how many days your tank has been filled by water?
well... i will not use any stablize bacteria either... same with niko
ammonia and nitrite will decrease until 0 slowly
my tank need 2 months to become stable. ammonia and nitrite are 0. lol i need those times because i didn't use any live rock and live sand (no shop sell it tat time, something new in my town about marine fish).

Maybe your eel's just getting used to its new surroundings. Hopefully your ammonia will decrease soon. What are your nitrite readings?
