missing danios and tetras.

alright yester day i went to petland were they a half sale for there aniverserary. so i picked up a orange south american cichlid and 4 neo tetras. i woke up this morning no tetras and only one remaining danio. so was he eating becasue he was angry, exited, agagtated or something?

also they bp is sowing some new aggrasion towards thet new guy. its not to bad but i made it so the new guys had about 6 places were the bp can not physicly go.

He ate them because he's a Cichlid. It's what they do.

Any dithers you put in there will eventually meet the same fate, so go w/ fast, cheap ones if that's what you want.

Personally, I'd suggest that some more research would leave you happier in the long run. Look at what's available in your area, pick 2-3 favorites that you think you must have, and research them. See if they'll go together or not, see what will go w/ them and how bib they'll get. Then go back and buy what will work out.

PS - this is a better place to do your research than the LFS is (about 90% of the time).

Considering that "sa cichlid" could be anywhere from the dimminutive Apistogramma cacatuoides to the bohemoth Oscar I don't see how we can help you. You will at the very least need to describe the fish using terms other than "Orange". I agree with the above post. You need to research more.

its organge and has the body and mouth of a fireouth cihlid.

could it be a red devil or a midas cichlid? they would definately eat any fish they can swallow.

I think you brought home a Red Devil. That would explain the eating of the small fish and being aggressive toward the other fish. Post a picture,then we could see what kind of fish you picked uo.

i dont have a camera so i think your right now. should i go to the pet store and get a diffrent fish and some replacement fish for eating mine? its scared of the bp though and its only an inch bigger. people say bp are *****es. mine my language but thats what they said

that looks like midas to me. will grow large if it is.

apistos are smaller cichlids 2-3", very good natured might not like BP
Convicts can hold there own w/ anything
Jewels are about 4" and are beautiful, but fight like tyson
Jack Dempseys are like jewels temperment but 8-9"

cichlids eat all those small fish
don't put them in there unless they are intended to be food! really if there is any fish smaller they will pick on them

well it's a cichlid rite???Maybe some domestic angels will be good tankmates.But plz do not ever ever ever keep small fish such as guppy,danios neons etc with cichlids.Last time i put some guppies in my angelfish tank and guess wat,it disappeared the next day.

well i had 5 danios with the bp and no problems. never ate one or picked on one.
