they will breed with guppies but they are not guppies. and most people don't really want them to be bred with guppies because if yours are endlers that havent been bred with other live bearers you will ruin the strain and they are said to be extint in the wild. you should find 2 females and in notime you will have a tankful. the males might get to an inch and the females will get to about 1.5. your right about them being small i have about 50 in a 60 gallon you cant even see them in pictures. you can check mine out here well atleast the tank, you cant see any fish http://www.geocities.com/jcharernsuk/60gallon.html i will get some close ups soon. john.

Do a www.google.com search, but for "Endler's+livebearer" and you'll come up with the interesting background of this fish.
This more you know, the more you'll want to keep from losing the fish by blurring it with guppy genes.

i have some but i never shipped before and i dont think i can do it right. you can check out www.aquabid.com a group of endlers go for less than 15 dollars and im pretty sure shipping from me-san diego, ca would pretty much make up the difference. here is someone selling some http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?fwlivebearers&1052194541 seller name is fishfry. and they are from madison wisconson, so its not too far from where you live. i do not know the person, just saw the auction. -john

Thanks for the heads up.Have to house them with female guppies for a week.:( But will use any fry as feeders I promise. Some thing I thought was interesting was they are all EXACTLY the same size and colors.
Hey Finn, don't you have a fry basket you can hold them in the meanwhile if they are indeed that small?

I just drove an hour and a half today to a fish store I have not been to in about 5 years. They had some of the Endler's and I thought about buying some, but they only had males.

The wholesaler I go to purchased two styros (160 fish) of them and got nothing but males. We looked a long time. They are just not shipping females now I guess.

Only males are shipped around in the trade. The females are hard to distinguish from female guppies.
I'm told locally Endler's Liverbearers only live about a year. Is this because the stock is already hybridized?
