.....or are you seeing the same threads over and over and over and over...

Overstocked? If you have to ask, you probably are.

Cycle over? Are your readings 0,0 and less than , say, 20? Then you are; if not keep on waiting.

What type of silicon is best for aquariums?

Sand or Gravel?

How do I use the Python?

How much do I take out on a PWC?

Can I add the Dechlor straight to the tank?

Folks, the Search function and Google are your friends; please use them!

Sorry for coming off as an old curmudgeon, but...

Jeeze!

Edit to add a reason behind my rant:

Twice in the last week I had a problem that I couldn't find an easy answer to in the search or Google (the tumor on my Black Veil tetra, and how soon and how to wean baby Angels to adult food).

Got little if no response, as my threads sank lower and lower, with me doing a bump every so often (like every 2 hours or so). I'm thinking they weren't noticed because aforementioned type of threads.

The little icons you can put at the front of your thread are a help, but I've seen a "please read" in front of one of those questions!

Hey, I like it here! Consider it one of the better general use boards here on the net. Most of my fishie surfin' is done here. But what to do when someone has a real problem?

Am I talking out of my butt?

Or have others noticed the same thing?

Feedback please!

Seems normal to me.

yes, i agree that you do see it alot....My thoughts...

When you do a search, for example, "phosphate" in the marine general, it lists 167 results and there is nothing on the result listing that actually shows how it relates to phosphates...But, if you do the same search and change it too "titles only", it only shows 8 results and each result has the search word in it...

Now, i think it is just how people are maybe using the search feature on the site...If a new person does a search and does not understand the way the search is carried out ( entire post or title only ), the person will just get reams of pages of results and its like you "cant see the wood for the trees" kind of thing..

So, the easiest option for people is to just create a new thread and let people answer...again...

What it boils down to people not understanding how to use the search facility i think...

What happens is because it's a forum, people come for answers and most honestly believe their situation is a little more unique than anyone else's. You have to remember, a lot of these wuestions are posted by new keepers of the hobby and they are pretty excited about their tanks. We all were and some still are even after keeping tanks for years.... hehehe, shoulda saw me here Tuesday, hehehe... anyhoot. That's the beauty of being involved in fish forums. Sometimes the question is a common one that could have been answered simply by using the search but it also doesn't hurt too bad to ask. Keeping it family friendly, why not.

Your question was a unique one, yet you didn't get the response you wanted. I'm thinking because a tumor on the fish is hard to distinguish and rare and I would guess there aren't many people who have experience in the matter. Would you rather have people post nonsensical posts just say, ah.... too bad, not sure what it is or how you would fix it but good luck....

I've been here for quite a while, and yeah, you do see these posts reappear all the time. It's normal.

Many of us frequent this site often, but many others just come here for some quick information. Some either haven't noticed the search feature, others probably would like their question answered at a personal level.

It's normal. Don't think much of it.

I agree that the search feature should be used more. Shoot...some people would benefit greatly from reading the articles in the article section before posting, but that is never gonna happen. It just isn't.
