This may be silly...

I have a 1" PVC pipe that I want to attach flexible hose to. Are there barbed-style fittings for this size pipe, or can I find a size of pipe, say 1.25"ID hose and just slide it over the pipe and clamp it on?

You could go either way if you wanted. Just go to lowes and try to explain it to them and they will help you find it.

they make a barbed fitting, i use it on my pond's outline. Lowes or Home Depot should have.

its kinda hard to find those types of things at lowes or HD but what you need to look for is this..

That fitting should be at home depot and lowes if you have a hard time look for a small mom and pop hardware store they usually have one or two of EVERYTHING!
