I bought a zoa frag from a lfs about 3 months ago. It looks healthy, the polyps are open and have good color (orange) but there hasn't been any growth.
What is the normal rate of growth for them?
Water quality is good and there is a fair amount of current over them, seems like I must be doing something wrong but I don't know what.

Not all zoas spread quickly. We have some pink ones that drop 1 - 2 new polyps each week, some orangish ones that get 1 - 2 new ones per month, and some green ones that maybe put out a new polyp every 6 weeks.
Do you know what kind of zoas you have? If not a good pic might be helpful.

I'm not sure what kind they are other than being orange. They were a frag from the LFS. It is pretty small, probably about 20 polyps on a small rock.

That is the closest picture that I can find on Google Images. Mine has an orange rim with a yellow center. There is no visable trunk/stem it just looks like the disk sits on the rock.
When I find my camera I'll get some pictures. I have a few pictures of it from November, oddly enough it was a different color then. The outside was purple with a greenish center. If I can figure out how to upload I will post those pictures.

also slice the membrane between the polyps with a sharp razor and you will see new polyps form where the wound was.
Sorry about the picture, not sure what I did wrong.
I checked out that link and I think it is an oxide - http://www.zoaid.com/index.php?module=Gallery2&g2_itemId=3471
still working on getting actual pictures

Set up an account with Photobucket.com
Then download a pic from your computer w/browse button
then copy the [img] code to the text box here and paste it.
Your pic will then display.
I will help you out if you need any.

above is a picture from when I first got it. Below is a new picture. It is pretty out of focus but "daytime" just ended and the timers kicked in. I'll get some clearer ones tomorrow.
