Despite my plans, I bought a cheap fish last week to do a mini cycle since my cycle with my live rock was complete. The LFS just listed it as a damsel, but it looks more like a Chromis to me. I've looked in my 500+ fish book, as well as on Wetwebmedia, and couldn't find it.

It is a lighter pinkish fish, slightly darker on its top, and it has big blue eyes. Sorry if this isn't very descriptive. I'll try to get a picture of it this weekend.

Well chromis and damsels are related (Pomacentridae).

I happened to find this a few days ago and bookmarked it. Yours would be about the 4th picture set down...

I don't have any experience with this specific chromis but the 2 different kinds of chromis I do have are peaceful. How are yours so far?

Edited to add...

wetwebmedia- I'm a big fan of their site. I'm on it several times a week...not as much as AC though. ;)

I do like reading the articles and Q&A, especially when Bob Fenner answers them.

Yeah, it is a great site. I looked at it for damsels, but didn't think of checking for chromis. I've got his book too which is really great.

My fish is doing okay, but I'm still getting things settled so he has been stressed a lot. He may have some friends soon... I'm going to post a new thread on the subject.

Finally got a pic of the fish:

After looking at it again, I don't think it is an Ambon Chromis as it doesn't have black on it's tail and the orange marking.

So, any ideas on my fish? Damsel or Chromis, and what type?
