My friend has a lower back tattoo..It looks very good..But I heard it is like a "tramp stamp." But I think it makes her look very sexy but I might be wrong..What do you think?

I like them. I've never thought of them as a tramp stamp, except by refrence to the wedding crashers

why shouldn't woman have tattoo's? Am not sure where the disgusting and trashy comes from, but i really dont think that is very good label to be putting on woman....all sexes are equal, everybody says its fine for a man to have tat's but not woman..In this day and age, it should be just as acceptable for both sexes to have tat's if they like and not be shot down for it...A tattoo is one of the ways a person expresses him/her self...so, to answer the thread question...Yes, i think it look fantastic...

This is of course just my opinion...

Nice tatty Boo.
Nothing wrong with tattoo's no matter where they are located, its all a matter of personal preference. Not to mention their "almost" more addictive than fishkeeping.

well, thanks to those who like it and to those who don't -- to each his own.

I have an upper middle back tattoo. I had to wear a dress w/ a keyhole back to my sister in law's wedding- it looked tacky. I covered it w/ a scarf. :)

Most of the time it doesn't bother me, but if I had it to do over, probably wouldn't get it.

Gotcha38
03-29-2007, 6:20 PM
For me it all depends on the tattoo. Some are really cheap looking and not attractive. Others are different.

I think the lower back is a very "trendy" place to get your tattoo.

wataugachicken
03-29-2007, 6:27 PM
it depends on the person and the tattoo. there are some girls who get them because that's where they want it. other girls get it so they have a reason to pull their pants down a little in public.
one of my friends got one, thought it was really great and awesome, and then one day she saw her exact same tattoo design and color somewhere else. . . . a sticker on a car!

i don't think tattoos are trampy, but some people are whether they have ink or not. those kind of people are the ones most likely to get in your face with their tattoos (or piercings, or beaded thongs) and show them off indiscriminately (hey y'all i'm drunk, who wants to see my tattoos?!) , so then that kind of person is more connected to the idea of tattooing in the mind of the general ink/piercing-free, granny-panty wearing population.

A tattoo on a woman can be sexy. It is all a matter of taste.

Both my wife and I have a single Tattoo, Mine on my upper arm and my wife on the inside of her ankle.

Both very easily hidden, when not appropriate.

Hehe...I have really warmed up to tattoos on women in the last few years...I generally prefer no tats on hands, necks, fingers, etc. But then Kat Von D breaks that rule for me! Gang related tats are another story, though.

I only have one tat so far, a lion on my inner forearm, but I am working on ideas for at least 3 more.....hurry up tax refund!

I like tattoos, but get them in places where they won't be seen unless I want them seen. My boss doesn't know I have them. My in-laws don't know I have them. I wouldn't do words or swastikas. Mine are all Celtic or tribal and all black. I am thinking my next one will be in color and either be a Koi or chinese dragon.

I would like it if my wife got one too.

I would suggest that anything with permanence be thought out fully and not done on a whim.

When I get my inside of wrist tat I dont want to be hiding it but what if my future job isnt tat friendly. I could have long sleves but I cant think of what to do when its hot out. Its to big for a watch terry wristbands dont look professional nor do rocker watches. Any one have a wrist tat...any ideas?

Well, I really wouldn't get anything on my wrists or hands. Especially if it's your first. The rule as I know it is, don't get a tatt where a judge can see it.
Why don't you get them on your ankle or back instead?
PS Thanks for all your positive feedback guys! I am proud of my artwork and although I know it's not for everyone, it makes me smile when I feel others can appreciate it as much as I do ;)

I love that tattoo Jessu, and the story behind it. Here is my thought. I work in a professional environment and sometimes my tat's show but what can you do. As long as you don't act like a derelist and as long as it isn't showing on the interview, and that it's not so distateful, I think you should be fine.

Jessu
03-29-2007, 8:09 PM
I have put alot of thought into placement. I dont really want it anywhere but the wrist. I want the paw print(I posted it above) on my shoulder so wings on the back wont work..atleast having them placed one on each shoulder. I cant think of any good place to put them on the back other then like this. http://www.religioustattoos.net/Images/Angel/angel_wings_3.jpg
My mom is a teacher and she has one on her ankle. Is a dove carrying a branch in its beak.

Molly was my dog she passed this past summer. Its a humman name, didnt want to get anyone confused. She was more like a todler to me then a dog. The angle wings are unrelated to Molly. Some might think Im psycho but when I was little I saw an angel. It is something that has allways stuck with me and everything the angel told me has come to pass.

I love tat's also...don't have any I want a dragonfly with each childs name and birthdate on each wing. I want it on my lower back or right under my neck. My husband say's no way on the lower back, of coarse that IS the spot I want it the most. But he say's it marks you (whatever) not just as a tramp stamp but he calls it a c*m catcher! I say so what I like them there and that would not be the meaning behind it it others feel that was so be it!

03-29-2007, 8:17 PM
k so heres what i think....a tattoo can definantly be sexy IF the girl can play it off. also the tattoo has to have a significant and artistic meaning to it, but listing out the names of people who have died or people they "loved" is a bit tacky.. one or two is understandable but a who list makes no sense.and there has to be an originality to the tatoo too.a generic template layed tatoo is worthless. i hate wannabes who get tattoos to show off that they have one.

position of tattoo is also a factor.. the lower back thing is cute but it is getting played out and slowly being refered to as a tramp stamp, nevertheless if it meets the standards above, i dig it. inconspicous tattoos are also nice ,being as im not a big fan of large tattos.

but anyways.. i like your tatoo Boo... its cool (cuz im year of the dragon :])

and ironically heres a photoshop rendering of a tatto mag i had to do for a class

i like her cute hips :dance2:

I have no problem with tat's, I have 1 on my upper left chest, about the size of your palm. Planning a small addition to it soon. I do agree that tat's are something to get to sig something, whether it be an event, and expression, but i think it should be personal to you.

The wrist in my opinion isnt a very good place for one. Now, I do think it would look excellent there, but theres alot of things to consider, like how it would effect future workplaces, (granted that by the time im out in the "real world" for good, and employed, you'll most likely have alot more exec's with tats, its just becoming a more acceptable thing. But take in to consideration exposure to the elements, a tat getting in the sunlight will fade rather quickly, and will need to have work done on it much much more often than one that is normally covered by a shirt. not only would that get lame fast, it wouldnt look nearly as good, and could get expensive.

I have 2 bracelette tats, and another one on the underside of my wrist. All 3 are special and arent tacky, the bracelette ones look like just that a bracelette. A good way to keep them from fading is to put sun screen on them.

I have a total of 6 and im planning my 7th. I think as long as the tattoo is special to you and you like it, who gives a **** what other ppl think. I agree you do have to watch were you get it when ur in the business world cause sadly the work will judge you by your tattoo.

The only thing i wish someone had told me is how addictive tattoos are.

I have a skull on each shoulder blade and have plans for at least 2 more tats. I agree with Yo - don't think you should tattoo below the wrist or above the neckline....and be very certain the tat is what you really want BEFORE getting it done. Something you think is 'cool' at 18 may not be appropriate when you're in your 30's in the business world, and no matter how unfair we think it is, especially for women.

Someone once told me....tats are like potato chips....you CAN'T have just one!

My friend has a side of her back covered by an Eyelash Viper, the other side is a scarification of a tribal lizard...looks awesome on her, but I wouldn't be able to pull it off. I don't have one, but want rune stones "thrown" across my back...something I can hide if needed.

Waterbaby...I was chicken too! After working up the nerve, I found it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Just make sure to research the shop/tattooist well...and be comfortable with who you are getting to tattoo you. The hardest part for me was not being able to donate blood for six months after the tattoo.

Everyone I have talked to says its not much worse then sun burn. I was on the phone with my mom when she got her first tat. She said it feels like rug burn. The outline hurt her a bit more but not enough to make you cry. Shes not a tough person either. Shes built like a stick bug.

I wouldn't refer it to a tramp stamp. If the woman or women are very radiant and refined, I think that it doesn't matter. But I think it depends on what they choose to embed, if you will, onto their lower back. Otherwise, I don't believe so. On most women, I find it more attractive I would say. Nevertheless, this is just my opinion so I could be wrong to others. ;)

I love tattoos. I am planning on getting one in the center of my back. (Not inbetween my shoulderblades, not the small of my back but the dead center). Although I love them, I get aggravated by those that will walk into a shop, look around for 30 minutes, then point into a book "That one".

Onto the subject of lower back tattoos, I personally wouldn't get one for multiple reasons, but if your design would look good there, I can't see why not.

My bf doesn't want me to have tattoos. He's been begging me not to get it. I think it's just because he doesn't like fish. (He's evil I know. ) He calls my hobby my 'fish fetish'. He breaks out when he touches fish. Maybe he's scared that he'll break out if he touches my tattoo. lol.

I plan on getting a tattoo sometime, but I'm still up in the air about what exactly. I really want a sun. Bright orange, yellow, and red. Maybe baseball sized or there abouts. I just can't find any good images that I like. Thats one thing I've wanted for 3-4 years, so I don't think I'd regret it. For the past year or so I've really wanted to get the SC state flag, but more life like than just white tree on a blue background, or a blue tree.

Of course these would have a much more manly placement than my lower back.
