Give some info about the tank parameters--size, chemistry, tankmates--all these things will determine what rams can co-habitate. If you're building the tank around the tanks, or if you're wanting to add tanks to an existing tank makes a difference. ;)

i would like to get rams in my 55 gallon community tank, which has platys, mollys, a cory, a beta, and a few neons. i want a non agressive ram that i can add to the tank. there is some structure, flower pots, and a few plants.

Well, when I went to get rams a few months ago, the guy at the LFS said that the bolivians would get too big and eat the neons. So after weeks of waiting, I got a german blue ram and a gold ram. They were always hiding in the back of the tank and were dead within a week or so. I have heard many people have the same symptoms with their rams as mine, they were struggling to breath and the next minute, they were dead. I hope that this doesn't happen for you.

Actually, the bolivians are the hardier of the rams so you may have better luck with them than the blue or gold.

good luck with him/her, I have 2 and think they are just awesome!

I had one a while ago. They really need good water quality.
Plants are VERY benificial for them. I wouldn't have rams with out plants.

Water that's good for mollies isn't good for Rams. Rams want warmth, tannins and low total dissolved solids (and so a low pH).
