Nice! I have 3 of them. They're very pretty fish who can hold their own. I'm sure you'll enjoy the royal gramma. :)

well the small cut may sting from the salt water, if the fish have some diseases tranmitable to man like tuberculosis then i wouldnt use that hand

rockethippo
04-01-2007, 7:53 PM
Umm I don't think my tank has a disease and it doesn't sting when i put my hand in

my LFS said bok choi or choy or whatever and romain lettuce will work. True?

Germanman
04-01-2007, 9:20 PM
thats ok but marine algae would be much better.

rockethippo
04-01-2007, 9:28 PM
Don't think they have marine algae. They said they use romain lettuce, bok choi, and seaweed.

Are my clownfish scared of my foxface? It's a one spotted foxface rabbitfish BTW. The clowns are now always swimming into the glass in the front, left corner

yes online...lol and no sometimes animals just can tell from coloration of behavior and know to avoid fish..or they are just wimps and are nervous about the new comer. they should settle in:)

Most likely they are just being wimps. I notice that whenever I place anything new in the tank my clown acts like she had just been added instead and goes to hide in her corner. What a drama queen.

Congratz on the new addition by the way. Hopefully you can get some pics up later.

Well looks like my smaller clown scared the crap outta my foxface. It went all blotchy and its dorsal spines were raised. Then it kinda touched the clown with it's mouth( or almost did anyways) and went back to normal colours. The clown went back to the corner with ther other clown. Hopefully I will get pictures. I just don't have a digital camera around.

Is my tank now full? My LFS said i could add some small clown gobies and maybe a pygmy angel. When do you suggest a cleaner shrimp and snails? Also how many cleaners and what other shrimps can i put? The fire shrimp or whatever looks real nice

Germanman
04-02-2007, 11:58 PM
u can add the clean up crew now and maybe a shrimp or two but hold off on fish until urs settle in a bit.

rockethippo
04-03-2007, 12:10 AM
So 1 cleaner shrimp and no other shrimp anytime from now? Also I won't be getting any fish or anything for my aquarium for a while. Right now I have 9 hermits is that a sufficient cleaner crew for now? I will complete my tank with fish and cleaner crew probally in... within 4 months from now. I will probally have a pair of nemos a yellowtail ******* a foxface a pair of clown gobies 9 hermits 10 snails and 1 or 2 cleaner shrimp and amybe another shrimp if i can able to add any more. Also some mushrooms. Sound good? Will more than one shrimp kill each other?

Germanman
04-03-2007, 12:19 AM
shrimp will get along. and ur idea sounds good.

rockethippo
04-03-2007, 12:28 AM
Thanks :) will the foxface outgrow my tank?

Germanman
04-03-2007, 12:29 AM
yes they get over 9 inches

rockethippo
04-03-2007, 12:29 AM
Also is there a limit with shrimp? Like with fish? Or just how many different species? How many can I have for my tank? Thanks again germanman!

rockethippo
04-03-2007, 12:31 AM
Also is my idea the limit? Or like don't push it? Cause i wanted a firefish

Germanman
04-03-2007, 12:37 AM
in time u can prolly add one they stay small.

rockethippo
04-03-2007, 12:40 AM
So when do I know that it is too big for my tank and have to move to another tank? just when it looks too big?

Germanman
04-03-2007, 12:57 AM
i would say it depends on ur set up really but above 4-5 inches is pushing it.

rockethippo

Is it okay that my foxface is a messy eater? I named him/her foxxy BTW. Whenever foxxy eats there are bits of lettuce or whatever floating around in the water. Also If I were to transfer everything to a 55 gallon ( which I am not going to. Atleast for a long time) can I put all my LR in there? After I cycle it with maybe 30ish pounds of uncured LR can i just upt all the LR from my existing tank in there? Also if i move my sand to the new tank it should be on top of new sand?
Anyways back to the my current tank. Everything is good. Readings are all good, PH 8.1. My next addition will most likely be a cleaner shrimp, which I will be getting next month because I am broke. I will need to use "drip acclimation" right? Will it work with 1/2" tubing? Just tieing knots in it? I will try to get pictures... no camera right now. Not even cellphone cam. Well will update again if anything happens. So, my LFS said i will be able to get mushrooms when my tank is atleast 6 months old, is this true?

Germanman
04-07-2007, 11:28 PM
yea its ok if its a messy eater as long as the clean up crew gets the left overs. yea u should move the lr over to the 50 when u do the move it will lessen the cycle. u can use the old sand as long as it isnt dirty if it is just use a bit of the top sand and rinse the rest with saltwater from the aquarium.
mushrooms can be added after 2-3 months depending on the set up. and the drip line should be air line tubing with a check valve to control the flow.

I love these things, I have one set to drip my Kalk (made my own peice that will reach the bottom of a gallon jug), modded one on to my u-tube so I can suck out any air that forms at the top, and I use one to acclimate fish!!

WHAT? Bacteria.... Will it be okay if I just spat it out and rinsed my mouth with water? I did it with my freshwater tank when it had a leak. Siphoned the water out before not too much leaked. I'll be okay right? Unless it gave that horrible stomach flu 9 months after i did it

rockethippo

BTW what are you holding in your pic?

5xevy
04-08-2007, 2:12 AM
Hehe. I only had to get tank water in my mouth a couple of times to never do it again. I either wrap my hand around the tubing so it's sticking out over the end, and then suck halfway and hold the tube facing downward so gravity takes over...or I fill the tube with water and place one end in my tank and let gravity take control again.

Those times I accidentally got water my mouth? Listerine all the way! :D

Germanman
04-08-2007, 1:41 PM

Pisaster giganteus...the California giant knobby sea star...and its still a young one.

Well im going to trade my yellow tail ******* for another fish at the LFS. Will a cherub angel work? Was thinking one of these firefish, clown goby, cherub angel, royal gramma, or any other suggestions.

jojo22
04-08-2007, 5:44 PM
UUUHHHH I would not sugest it, even if left in the tank for heating issues it would not be ideal, would he live...probably, would you want to be stuffed in a bag for a day...probably not.
