One Week Cycle!?

My friend's 55 gallon, fish only, saltwater tank cycled in one week. He placed some media from his 55 gallon, reef only, saltwater tank to help speed up the process. Does this usually help a tank cycle that fast?

I moved 1/2 the deep sand bed and several pounds of LR from an established tank into our 90g and it only took about a week to cycle.

i have about 3 days to 8 day cycles...but thats with my little twists and tricks...most take about 3weeks to 2 months avg around 1 month.

there is no need for any twists or tricks mate, just good quality live rock and some established sand and its easy to get a fast cycle..as fsn states above, its easily done...nothing special needs to be done to get a fast cycle..

live rock speeds up cycling a lot a lot since its already full of bacteria, put the rock in, get some heat, get some water flow, let things on rock die a bit, let the dead things get eaten up by bacteria, then your ready for fish
