First of all, feeding predators out of your hand is just asking for trouble, this guy was lucky the eel only went for his finger. Second, feeding animals in their natural habitat processed sausages I find rather disturbing!

So that's why they told me not to pet my piranhas at the fish store!

The bad thing is that he probably never learned his lesson and thinks that his toe thumb is "all good".

This reminds me yesterday about an article I was reading about Australian authorities having to section off and guard a whale carcass that floated to the top that a shark was feeding on because last time it happened, people had actually climbed on top of it and were surfing it.

Another time I was watching this show about when dolphins attack. The idiots were jumping in the water and feeding the poor thing and trying to ride it.

In another thing this woman was diving and started petting a whale with her calf and the whale dragged her down into the water about a dozen time but didn't kill her. Did injure her though.

Yeah I went on but this pisses me off. The bad thing is that when this kind of stupid stuff is pulled on land, the animals are shot.

Not having a thumb seriously would suck.... sure he deserved what happened to him, But I for one, would rather live without my thumb, than to have one of my toes cut out, and grated back on to my hand.

What kind of deal is that? lose a toe to replace a thumb?

Hahaha when my uncle did night diving with the british SAS they warned him that if he swam into an eel to turn his lights off or it would see its refelection in his goggles and try attack it. he aslo told me 1 person didnt listen and needed to have his nose reconstructed from mush and cartlidge.

hrmm maybe if he had gloves his thumb might have had a better chance. my gloves saved me a couple of times when diving.

What difference does it make when your dangling meaty, tasty, finger sized sausages in front of a fish.... his fingers and those sausages look exactly alike.

Naturally the eel was thinkin' that guy had 10 yummy sausages, and he was holdin out on the eel.

Long vid... I'm sitting here thinking: 'fingers feeding finger-shaped food sticks to large predatorial fish ... this can only end badly... this can only end badly...'

*keeps watching*

He's getting fiesty...

*sees it happen*

Why am I not surprised? It's awful... but I'm not surprised.

"Oh lookit... a WILD ANIMAL... let's give it food shaped like BODYPARTS and CUDDLE IT like it was a TEDDY BEAR." *smacks forehead* People can be so dumb.

*sees end of film*

.... Ewww. Well, that was interesting. ^_^;;

and that is why they banned chumming in florida off of sanibel lighthouse beach because of swimmers being attacked by lemon sharks

Nice find garbage. That was an awsome vid. What an amazing fish. That does look so cool to have a fish like that swimming all around you. But then there's the teeth on that thing. Foolish? Yeah. The outcome says it all. But he can say, "I swam with an amazing animal" and, "would you like to see my video?"

He must've known the danger going into this creatures world. If he didn't he's more foolish than I thought or he was willing to take a large gamble.

I was thinking that too.

Don't shark divers usually wear chain mail gloves?

A friend who owns an lfs was teasing a small moray in his store one day. He didn't lose any fingers, but it took weeks for the bite to heal. He was relatively lucky...

we have morays in our LFS too. But they have in written Warning I Bite. Maybe some one should of told this dude that. Personally I would of not had them take my toe that makes it from weird to weirder.

Looks like he was teasing/taunting the eel with food for awhile before he got bit. The food also resembled a finger, not a bright guy.

Lol yeah, that wouldn't have been as easy to replace...........
It takes all kinds to make the world go round...including dumbasses

The pop of the thumb comming of was a erky sound, but it looked like he had the hotdog at an angle. And the Eel came the other direction and took his thumb.
