I do have some of them in the same tank. The Clown, 2 Nigers, Queen, and Huma Rectangle are in my 209G tank. They are all still babies and will be divided out to bigger tanks in the future. Amazingly the smallest Niger is the most aggressive in the tank. That guy beats up on the Queen! Then the Blue line and Undulate live in a 55 gallon. Then I also have a Halfmoon and Blue Throat in a 46G (only 3 fish). The only way that I get away with the 209 is lots of live rock (probably around 250-300lbs, they get fed twice a day and the two most aggressive are actually the most peaceful. It might not be that way forever but for the time they are fine. The Clown (3 inches) is the most peaceful trigger I have ever seen. The Queen gets into arguements with a Blue devil damsel male and he will die someday soon at the rate he goes after the Queen. The Queen despises him and wants him gone. Thanks for the question.

Queen Triggers? You are referring to Balistes vetula right? Here is a picture of a juvie, they have pretty well same color as adults http://www.wetwebmedia.com/marine/fishes/triggers/balistes/index.htm Are you maybe referring to Niger Triggers (Odonus niger)? They are the only fish that actually has a blue hint throughtout its entire body throughout its entire life. Anyway, sorry can't be more assistance but not quite sure if you are just referring to the stripes or the whole body. Anyway, hope this helps. WORD TO THE WISE: Queen Triggers (when happy and healthy) grow EXTREMELY fast. A month ago I measured both my Queens at 4 inches. Within the past month they have grown to 6 inches a piece. They are now getting massive (and gorgeous!). Again, hope this helps.

thanks for the help...i mean he was dark violet to blue throughtout his entire body looks cool with the actinic lights too:D

i feel sorry for him sometimes though as he gets picked on (only 1.5") in length by the Clarkii Clownfish....are the triggerfish at that size tough enough to withstand this?...the clowns i got are 4-5" in length...

also you wouldn't happen to have a pic of your Niger Trigger around would you?....

thanks for your help Mono!:)

cheers

I'm going to go home this weekend and take pics of all my triggs and if I get some good ones I will post them. Your trigger is most definitely not a Queen Trigger. I think it might be Melichthys indicus or Melichthys niger. Queens are born (I think) the color of the juvie on wetwebmedia site. I would say it is either hte Melichthys genus or Pseudbalistes genus but not Balistes. Anyway, if you could provide some more close up photos I could probably ID him for ya but is kinda hard with your photo. Anyway, hope this helps.
