Just thought this would be a fun topic, what does everyone think are the most agressive cichlids? Top 3 to be precise. Melanchomis Auratus? Red Devils? flowerhorns? Jacks or terrors? Curious what the general consensus is.

1. Parachromis Managuensis - or - Jaguar
The meanest South/Central American Cichlid I have ever had. What a great fish awsome color and fun to watch, but mean as any fish I've raised.
2. Melanochromis auratus I think is the bad boy of the Aficans
3. IT's a toss up for third. Johanni, Kennyi, Chipokee, or Dogtooth are all fierce fighters.
Well thats my list

What about flowerhorns?
The auratus is top on my list - they killed off most of my stock!

depends on the personality of the fish. I have a 15" jag that is as docile as they come.

1) Jaguar cichlid 2) Red devil 3) Texas cichlid
But this topic can have no real answer because it all really depends on the individual fih and whether or not they are breeding.

I agree, but I think everyone is putting too much weight on the Jag. I would venture to say they're more territorial than aggressive.

I agree with Rallysman my jag is very docile as well. The only time it gets an attitude is when it is laying eggs then all bets are off. But that tends to be a territory defense rather than agression.
My vote goes for the little three inch Neolamprologus marunguensis These are agressive little buggers.
I think a lot of cichlids are labeled Agressive because they are not given enough territory. The cichlids mentioned are more territorial than agressive in my opinion.

The auratus kills fish 4 times it's own length! For it's size, nothing is cuter, and more evil.

For the americans
Salvini. - These fish are just plain nasty
Dovii. - Just the shear size and gerth to go with that attitude. Scary
Flowerhorns- As much as I detest these fish I have to admit that from an aggression stand point it isn't even funny
As for the africans
Bumblebee. - Mean mean fish
Auratus. - Pound for pound the meanest cichlid I have ever seen almost made me want to go african instead of american... almost..
Tie: Buttikoferi and a couple of the tilapia species. - They get big and they are very intolerant to everything

My picks are all African.
#1 aggressor: Auratus
#2 aggressor: Electric Blue Ahli
#3 aggressor: Bumblebee
Just my 2 cents. I have these fish and they are rotten!
Pretty, but rotten!

I feel there is a difference between truely aggressive and the ability to be aggressive.
