do you reckon i could buy 3 6ft tanks and hten separate the sheets of glass. after this do you reckon i could build 3 6 x 2 x 2's divided into 3 x 2 x 2 and 2 x 2 x 2 and 1 x 2 x 2 (overflow) if i can get my hands on a few extra sheets of 2 x 2 10mm glass? is this possible, or do i need to get the pieces all at once aspicially for the tank.
thanx

Couldn't you just get the 3 tanks and buy 6 pieces of glass to use as separators? Why are you taking the tanks apart? What do you mean by 1x2x2 (overflow)?
I feel like I'm missing something…

1 x 2 x 2 is the size of the overflow filter at the end. also, wouldnt it be very hard to insert pieces of glass into the aquariu with silicone without taking htem apart?

I probablly shouldn't be speaking up cause I'm not quite sure what you're trying to accomplish big ears, but I wouldn't buy a tank and plan on taking it apart. If it's not the right size to begin with find one that is.
Is this right? You want to take a 6ft long tank and divide it into three sections. I'm not sure I understand why you would do this, but you can get dividers at Petco for less than USD$10. If you wanted a more permanant solution you could buy glass that fit and use silicon tank sealant (again, Petco for <USD$4.00). So you basically have three tanks in one.

If they're cut to the right size I wouldn't think it would be hard at all to install dividers. Certainly not as hard as dismantling and reassembling three tanks. If you're going to dismantle them entirely why not just buy the glass? Cheaper than a preassembled tank. And if I were going to do a set up like that (and it does sound like a nice setup), I'd use a sump or some canisters and maximize the tank area for its own purposes. Not really sure what kind of filter you want to devote that kind of space to in the tank itself.
Just my 2¢.

um, wouldnt it be difficult to install the dividers, because wouldnt siliconing the pieces in be hard when its already enclosed. ??? i duno, it jsut seemed easier if i took off the front 6 x 2 panel and put the 2 x 2 dividers in. Also, i duno about the filters because i want to keep it cheap, so yeah, it seems like the easy way to go. im going to keep the bottom tank 6 t for bigger fish thouygh.

i don't think you will need 10mm glass for this, thinner should work between the tank halves and for the overflow depending on how you're setting it up. you only have to worry about the pressure difference caused by the little bit of water above the other side that causes the wayer to overflow.
is there a reason you are seperating the tanks using glass rather than plastic egg crate (flourescent light diffuser)?
