You know my first cichlids were convicts they were easy going too. But after a while I had them in this tank I started to see these babies and I didn't know where they came from. Little did I know about these cichlids. They had babies and I took a net and try to scoop them up and the parents attacked the net. I guess we learn thing the hard way. Are all cichlids like this very protective of there nest?

Convicts have been known to beat up Oscars 3 times thier size that come near thier babies. They are great parents. If you stick your hand in the tank they will attack you too.
Ferocious when it comes to protecting thier young.
