2 salvini's in a 26g tank?

I introduced my two 2 inch Salvini's into my 125g a few weeks ago. They seemed to be doing fine. Then they spawned and all heck broke loose. Two Salvini's in 80 gallons of water and everyone else huddled into about 40 gallons. Two days later the babies were gone and the next day after that the tank was back to normal. I am setting up a 26g tank(36x10x16) and was curious if this would be a suitable home or should I plan on something larger down the line?
