They think the neons are lunch, as the discus grow, the odds are your neon population will decrease.

discus are cichlids and they are meat eaters.

are the tetras small?
I am guessing they discus see the neons as food..you can try larger ones(tetras) but once they start to exhibit this behavior it may be too late.

I kept black neons(not truely a neon) with my discus with no problems..the tetras were very calm in the tank with the discus.

recently moved angels in there and the tetras are a lot more nervous. but the angels don'r bother them much..

well the discus was a 5cm baby. And after i gave them some freeze dried tubifex worms they stop their habits of disturbing my 4cm neon tetras(pure neons!!!!!Not black neons!!!)Oh yah i kept some black widow tetras with the neons and the discus plus a few baby angels and adult cories.

Grow ur neons out a bit in a seperate tank if u can then add them they should b fine. I keep cardinal tetras with my discus and they do great.[same size as neons]
