hi, i have 2 6' x 2' x 2' tanks, and i want to divide them into 1 3' x 2' x 2', 1 2' x 2' x 2' and one 1' x 2' x 2' in each tank. i want to make the water flow from one side, flow over the top of the first glass divider, into the 2 x 2 x 2, then over the top of the divider here into a trickle filter which takes the water back to the 3 x 2 x 2. a few q's. how would i insert these glass dividers? will i have to take the whole tank apart and start from scratch with the parts, and then purchase the pieces of glass for the separators seperate and put them in when rebuilding the tank? is there an easier way? also, what determines glass thickness of a tank, is it the width or the depth? will it be possible for me to get my hands on some 10mm 24 x 22 inch glass sheets easily or will i ahve to buy these seperately? has anyone ever performed this operation, and could htey please give me a few hints on what t do?
thanx

Ok I'll help you out get something to make a template from.
Trim the template down till you have the size to make your snug fitting baffles with.Take it to the glass shop and have them cut your pieces to size.
now your ready to insert you pieces you dont have to take the tank apart.Use two pieces of wood and clamp them verticaly in your tank where you want the divider/baffleplace baffle up to the wood make sure its where you want it then silicon the one side in let dry overnight remove wood then do wood side of the same baffle. If you do this well enough you might be able to remove the center braces IMHO
Personaly I think you should buy seperate tanks and run on a central system as thats one expencive tank to hack up like that
I can buy and run 4 -75s for for what just your glass and stand will cost:rolleyes:

This MAY be a better option for you. http://www.geocities.com/river_tank/riverTankText.html. This is what I did in my 55 gallon tank. It creates what is called a "river Tank", in which the water flows through several levels. The fish can swim up the waterfalls, and there are ledges for lizards and frogs and pots for land plants above the water. They are made for aquariums up to 150 gallons, if I remember correctly. If this is the type of setup you are after, it is certainly easier, and I believe would be less expensive, than what you described. Here is the web site where it can be purchased: http://www.abundantearth.com/store/rivertankecosystem.html
