View Full Version : Giant Danio Breeding info
Anyone have some? Mine has been hovering over a corner but I am so used to watching cichlids I interpret it as breeding. It comes out to eat and then just patrols the corner. Its not hovering, its swimming back and forth and "patroling". Any ideas?

Sounds like it's all by itself, and very uneasy on that score. Get six more Giant Danios. They chase each other and blow eggs into fine-leaved plants like... well, like Danios.
What a great-looking fish!
There are four in total so six more would be ten, I was honestly thinking about three more, some dribble about the asthetics of odd numbers. I know how danios breed but I was just wondering, I guess its time to get more danios.

yea i would get at least 3 more. it seems the one lonely one is at the bottom of the pecking order in the school and is excluded from the group.

When you post "Mine has been hovering over a corner" I think you mean one Danio. If it's one that hides apart from the school. that's an early symptom of problems: parasites?
Sorry I was not more specific in the first post, after rereading I definately would read it that way, as only one danio. There is no indication of parasites, in any of the fish the one just swims back and forth on the one corner of the tank. He will come up and school with the others during feeding or if the severum gives chase. I had heard danios need at least six fish so I was thinking about some more. I don't see any aggression or dominace ie nipped fins chasing etc.
