Too Much Filtration/Current/ Fish that is Preggers?

So I am still pretty new to the whole fish world. I just got done getting all the problems (**** hydras) cleared up in my 54ga corner tank.

I had just a marine land 50 (ok under by 4 ga) but it just didn't seem to suck any thing in that passed it by, and just did what I considered a worthless job (don't ask me for a definition of what a worthless job is, I can't tell you).

So I made a addition of a Rena XP3 (175ga capacity I think it is rated for), man does it move some water, I have the distributed bar on it, and I have the marine land still running. Is this too much current? I know when I had the jet adapter on it, it seemed like over kill, but now is this still the case? I see people put power heads in tanks... how does this stack up?

I also have a fish that is preggers(knocked up) that I got from the pet store like so... what will happen with her spawn? Will the filter just eat them up over night before I have a chance to see/do anything?

:help: (please think of the fry)

If you don't have a fry tank, putting a sponge on the filter intake will help, but may reduce the flow a bit. As for the output, more holes in the spray bar can help alliviate the hard flow.
