What type of filtration would you guys suggest for a 400 gallon tank

Because it's so big I'd custom build a wet/dry

build it yourself in a sump, have 2 or 3 overflows and each overflow should lead to one trickle filter.

I'd run two large canisters and a sump or swimming pool filter.
