Do clownfish and/or gobies jump out of the water?

Any fish will jump out.

Clowns you generally don't have to worry about, gobies on the other hand may depending on the species.

really, i've seen clowns try to jump out of tanks

There is always an exception to the rule but in general , as far as I know, they are not jumpers.

yea egg crate is best unless the lights are very close to the top of the aquarium. they work very well also add extra air flow.

Clowns are "usually" to much of a placid fish to be jumping, it is the gobys who are the more skittish fish out of the two..

I do agree clowns don't usually jump. I still stick to my original post, though. Any fish who is spooked or being picked on can and will jump. That being said, I have never had a clown jump. I have lost 1 blenny and 1 chromis to jumping in the 5 yrs. I have had a tank.

wel.... my tomato clown also jump out 2 times (luckly still alive and didn't eaten by my cat)
but it's jump because he attacked another fish. poor my nemo... clown fish...

My one clownfish has jumped into my overflows more times than I can count. :D

Whenever I couldn't see him in plain view I knew he was in one of those. One time he even did it right in front of me- and it's a pain to get him out! I have since covered the overflows with eggcrate. As it was stated though, it's not very typical for clowns to jump. I swear mine did it just to mess with me. ;)

I do have eggcrate covering each section of my tank though. I have a goby, an anthias, and that one specific clown that are notorious for jumping and I figured it was better to be safe than sorry.
