How big do Leopard puffers and figrure eight puffers get?
Could I keep either one of them in a 20 gallon tank? How much salt do they need in the water?

What are some brackish water tank mates that you could keep with them?
I always thought they were aggressive and should be kept by themselves.

I plan on getting a figure right puffer. The GSP I think would be too big for my tank.

In a 20g, you could keep about 4-6 bumblebee gobies, if they have lots of hiding places. I had about a dozen in w/my F8s & there is only 1 survivor. He's been in there many years.

Do you mean survivors from natural causes, or were they untimely snacks? I saw some BGs at my LFS and was pondering if it was worth trying...even though I have a 10 g for my fig 8 now(hes 1 1/2 inches) I plan on putting him in a 29 this summer.

Although I never saw the puffers go after the BBGs, I assume they were a late night snack. In a 29g, you could keep a pair of knight gobies w/it.

i would either get a puffer, and nothing else.

or no puffer, and a couple lil brackish fish.

no fish is really safe with a puffer, in my experience. (nippy lil fish)

but at the same time, they're all cute and bubbly, and rush the tank to say "Hello!"

here's an idea, dont know how set on brackish you are, but i think a real tight set up for a 29 gal would be a heavily planted FW with cherry shrimp, ghost shrimp and like 4 or 5 Dwarf puffers. (1 male, the rest female, and that might be too many, ask puffpunk)

you'd spent most of your money on plants. you just gotta break the puffers lines of sight. i think thatd be really cool.

4-5 DPs in a 29g would be very nice, especially if it was a planted tank.
