I am getting a 5 gallon tank on April 19th and hoping to put a male halfmoon betta with a blown tail in it. He currently has no tail and i was wondering is there anything i need to get him to help his tail grow back? i am not planning on showing him i just want him to be happy. I also was wondering if what else should i put in his tank ( shrimp, small fish, ect.) any help would be greatly needed.
~thanx ZArugbyfan~

If hes still alive, i think he'll just grow it back naturally

suggestions for buddys:

2-3 african dwarf frogs?

2 amano (algae) / ghost shrimps?

MAYBE an oto

mixed ghosts and frogs ???

or you could set a large rock(s) in the tank that gets past the surface and maybe a (SMALL!!) newt or frog? or maybe a fiddler crab (mine is peaceful)?

If the tail has rotted away, Melafix treatment will help. Once treatment is over, regular water changes will keep him very happy. The more partial frequent the water changes, the happier he will be.

feed him freeze dried blood worms too he will love you for that. I also heard that putting java fern or a nice silk plant in with him will make him happy. I have my betta in a 3 gallon filtered eclipse . I tried adding a small silk plant but not really enough room for my betta to swim so I couldn't add the plants but you should have room in your 5 gallon. Good luck I hope he gets better.

darn i forgot about saying to feed bloodworms... :duh: :duh: :duh: :duh:

yep, and i here they REALLY like mosquito larvae if you can go and net them from a pond or something :)

Add a little Stress Coat and half a teaspoon of aquarium salt. Discontinue the salt when the Betta's tail gets better.
