I'm new to this forum. I've recently taken my 55G tank from the basement and set it up again. I had the tank setup previously as a tropical fish only tank (a couple of plants, but never many or very healthy plants). The tank's been in the basement for the last five years or so.

Now I have setup the tank as a tropical community planted tank. I'm just getting over an algae infestation with primarily beard and string algae, I believe. I've included a current picture of the tank (around a month old).

The fish occupants are:
6 otos
7 glowlight tetras
3 cardinal tetras
7 black neons
some snails that came free with the plants! :-)
some ghost shrimp

The plant occupants include (Tropica names):
Sagittaria subulata
Micranthemum umbrosum (baby tears)
Echinodorus 'Ozelot' (Green)
Microsorum pteropus
Anubias barteri var. nana
Cryptocoryne x willisii
Echinodorus uruguayensis
Hydrocotyle leucocephala
Aponogeton crispus
Limnophila aquatica
Eusteralis stellata (Pogostemon stellata)
Myriophyllum aquaticum (Green)
Vallisneria spiralis "Tiger"
Rotala rotundifolia

The mechanics of the tank are:
Satellite 2 x 65 watt SunPaq lamp
Eheim 2026 cannister filter
250W heater in Lifeguard unit after 2026
8W Lifeguard UV sterilizer after heater
Eheim 2213 cannister filter with surface skimmer intake
