Bought one in an emergency a couple weeks ago for my newly set up 65. I had broken the one I had for it during a water change. Anyway, I bought the Whisper heater and the water temp was all over the place! It would never stay stable. I will never be buying a Whisper again! And yes it was the correct wattage for the tank size.

Agreed, I have a Whisper heater and the lack of ability to increate or decrease the temperature as needed is well... needed. In my 10 gallon (I have a 10-30 gallon heater, the tank dropped to 72, bought another 5 gallon heater but it on the other side of the tank (has a divider in it) and its now at a steady 78 =)

Gees... I thought it was me... I've had all sorts of trouble keeping the temp right in my 46 with the Whisper heater I got from, (holding my head down in shame) Wal-mart. I was thinking about swapping it out with my Visi-temp which is rock solid.

amazingly, my wal-mart whisper heater is actually working great. keeps my tank at a steady 76 and has for 6 months. still going as soon as I can afford a visi-therm, though.
