Since the lfs had some live brine shrimp, I have discovered the joys of feeding live foods. So of course the next step is to consider raising some of my own. Problem is my tank is in the office, so something small scale that I can hide in the cabinet (which is getting crowded) makes sense. But the how-to article at
http://www.aqualink.com/marine/z-atemia.html is a little intimidating - almost as if the project deserves a tank of its own. But then the hatcheries shown at BigAl's seem simplicity itself (although if inside the cabinet I would need to add a light I suppose).

So, can I do this using a 2 liter bottle scale? Why does one hatchery need aeration but the other (San Fran. model) omit it? If I have a small pump, a light, one of these hatcheries, eggs and food and salt, am I set to go? Anyone with experience raising live food want to offer advice? Other foods are possible, but raising mealworms in the office fridge is not likely.;)

I have the San Fran. Bay one. I just set it on the counter and when I am ready to collect I put a flashlight on the top of the collection bottle. I strain them and freeze them in a small ice cube tray.
