Well in my 105 gallon tank. There is about 20 cichlids ok, i am aware that this is highly overstocked. Amongst these there are 3 convicts, 1 black and two pink ones. I only got my pink ones about 2 weeks agoo.

Well if your think the two pink convicts spawned your half wrong. My male pink convict and my female black convict have spawn. Last night no eggs this morning eggz. The female is probaly the more defensive of the 2 since she is like ten times bigger then the male. The male was having a big fight with my green terror and my gt could probaly swallow him whole is he wasn't such a quik bugger lol.

They seem to be doing such a good job at protecting the eggz. I was wondering if i should divide the tank up, cause yes u guessed it i would like the fry to make it. None of the eggz have turned white so thats a good thing i think lol.

My friend did suggest using fly screen so the tank is divided but is also getting good filtration. Im a bit worried about dividing it though because the filtration it on the same wall as the eggs. Would the rest of the tank still get good filtration while the fly screen is there?

Oh and would we leave the parents with the fry or move them to the other side of the tank if we were to fivide the tank up.

If anyone has any ideas please say, all comments and questions welcome.

Thanks

find a basket that is well vented on all areas and have it sink to the bottom so it makes a bubble.. when the eggs hatch and they become free swimming they can go into th basket and the other fishes can get to em.....i dont like dividing the tank up because you might have to move the parents or whatever.. but if you wanted to you can use eggcrate to divide the tank

if u can either remove the eggs to a sep. tank or the eggcrate to divide the tank is also a good idea.Just put a good sponge filter on the side the eggs are on so they get enough current not to grw fungus on them,or get sucked up. GOTTA LOVE THE CICHLIDS!!!!!!!!!!!

Put the fry in another tank with the parents and a sponge filter.

Hmmm alotta good ideas i like the sound of Rbishop myself :)

Maybe put a few dense plants in a corner of tank or something so the parents dont get hungry...

hmm i like all the ideas too, but they are a bit complicated well for me anywayz.

I love the idea about another tank, but my dad won't get another one lol, and he won't let me pay 4 one either. :(

And i could put dense plants but they would be floating in now time even if i put rocks (big rocks) over them, my fish move the driftwood rocks and everything u name it. (apart from the heaters (well they just blow them up by running into them lol) and the filter intake).

So it kinda doesn't really work for me :( great, fantastic ideas though.
Thanks all, i think i might just divide the tank up. I'll also try to get some pics soon and some updates on the fry well if they make it . . .
