Hey guys, do you think it would be a good idea to make a Coral Sticky with: Lighting(min, better, best) for each type. Also any other information to help pick corals that would thrive in certain aquariums. Liveaquaria and SWF.com and Marinedepotlive are a little vague when it comes to lighting conditions.
Im sure it won't be easy but then again, you guys are experts when it comes to this sort of thing.

Its a very hard. and open ended question to answer because everybodys tanks are different. We could suggest a certian light for a certain coral for a certain tank...then another person will come along and say "that would not work in mine because........."

Understand where i am coming from on this one?

By all means, start a thread for a coral lighting discussion and lets see what direction it goes...

i think it is a good idea, and useful to hear everyones own opinions and experiences with regards to lighting and corals.

I agree with Niko, lighting requirements are a bit vague on liveaquaria and marinedepotlive for a reason. Placement is just as important as the kind of lights you run. Even a high light intensive coral could do well in a tank with low output power compacts if the coral is placed a few inches from the surface... and likewise, a decked out $1000 lighting system would still have a hard time sustaining some corals if they are placed at the bottom of a 30" tank.
