Just curious, since I'm totally new to the raising cherry shimp thing, is it normal for all of the minute babies to hang out on the glass? I would have assumed, being sooooo tiny, that they would choose to hide in the java moss or something, but if you look at the glass of my aquarium, you can count at least 3 dozen itty-bitty cherry shrimp! I'm brand new to cherry shrimp, just ran into a guy 2 weeks ago that wanted to get rid of all his, so I aquired around 80 cherry shrimp with a gazillion pregnant mommies! Immediately upon arrival in their new tank, several moulted, several gave birth, and the rest are just content chowing down! Everything seems just fine, I was just curious as to if the babies usually like to hang out on the glass instead of hiding, or if my baby shrimp are like my baby children(well, not quite babies anymore, but I digress!)and just like to do things differently! Thanks for any info or advice on raising these little guys!

It depends. Do you have any fish in the tank with them?
I'd imagine that in the absence of fish, the babies would be less prone to hiding. That's my experience, anyway.
Hope that helps.

Nope, no fish, just cherry shrimp and snails. I guess I hadn't stopped to think that with the absence of predators they might be bolder. I just figured instinct told them to hide when they were that itty-bitty! Thanks!

I betcha those little babies are enjoying picking at the microorganisms and algae film that is growing on the glass. Right now you see a couple of dozen in the open, imagine how many are hiddening in the rest of the tank! :)

OMG I know, I thought of that! I've got well over 100 now, I can only imagine what that'll turn into in a couple of months! Whew!

They are in a well established 29 gallon tank. I moved my 4 ACF's and huge monster goldfish to a new 55 gallon and got these guys for the empty 29. The two baby ACF's are in a separate tank until they reach an age to go into the 55 also.
