Most feed their discus frozen bloodworms or frozen beefheart and occasionally flakes.

LOL..yes they are very carnivorous..they will munch on algae discs from time to time but they will gorge on meats.
in addition to the above..they will eat mysis shrimp.
many discsu breeder make their own food.which may contain fish, beefheart, shrimp, flake etc..etc..

I have no problem getting my adult discus to eat their weekly portion of spirulina with garlic flake. I feed it to all of my tanks, including fry, once a week. While some fish may appear to be picky eaters, it is hard to find one that will starve todeath rather than eating something normally acceptable. If you want yours to eat the occasional spirulina dinner, then you have to treat them kinda like a recalcitrant child- "You get nothing else until you eat your vegetables".

try garlic guard or some other garlic food additive. This gets all of my picky fish to start eating

My discus go nuts for frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp with spirulina, mysis, etc., and they do eat the occasional flake as well. I wouldn't bother with freeze dried food.
Also, I noticed that you seem to refer to your discus as "it"... discus do not generally fare well unless kept in groups.

they will..they just need to realize what is food..I have noticed tho that the discus pref food that will sink..they seem to prefer to swim around and pick food off the bottom of the tank.
you may need to try feedin them with frozen bloodworms thawed and add some small pellets..they will learn that the pellets are food.(it's how i trained my discus..I trained my wild angels to eat flake..they prefer frozen but will take flake..some have come to prefer flake)

I found that mixing food slowly gets them to try different food. I used to mix flake with fresh blackworms and my fish would eat everything. Next feeding I would give more flake, less worms. In a few feedings I got them on flake food (though yeah, I can tell they still prefer live).
