Just curious how important lighting is for my 75 gallon with a baby red devil and JAg in it. Should it be bright. I bought a really bright light but ended up trading it in for a less powerful one. I now have a nice dim lighting, thats not too dark or bright on the tank, and the fish seem more comforatable... Is my lighting correct or should i buy one of those real bright full spectrum light...

Unless you're growing plants don't worry too much about the light. I have a few of my CA/SA cichlid tanks without any light. A Jag and RD will be fine with lower amounts of light, but just keep a watchful eye on them as they mature:)

i keep my lights OFF all day and only turn them on in the morning and evening when i'm feeding them. the lights are solely for you to better see your fish ... as long as you've got good ambient lighting, the fish couldn't care less.
