Just invested in new 125 gallon today and would love to stock a couple stingrays. Only problem, of course, is there too danged expensive. Anyone know where how much a baby ray would go for and where I might be able to get a few??

Also, I am looking for a few nice monsters for the new 125. Anyone looking to sell any fish 6" + PM me. Not quite sure what I want to stock it with yet but would love to see what everyones got for sale. THanks:look:

What are the dimensions on the 125? If it's 18" wide I would skip the rays. They'll usually get a bit too big. You can usually get Retic. rays in the LFS for $60-80 depending on location, or if you order them from a wholesaler like www.tfdfish.com you can get them for as low as $25. Keep in mind that a retic is a sensitive ray and really isnt suited for a ray noob. Motoros seem to be the hardiest, but are a bit more expensive. You should check out the stingray section at www.monsterfishkeepers.com. There is couple of threads for potential ray buyers, as well as a ton of other information.

Also, where do you live? Rays arent legal everywhere, and if you're close I know a lot of people selling "monsters" :D
 
Thanks for the info. Its 18" by the way. I live in in Southern Indiana, I'm pretty sure there legal cuz the LFS have a few of them but none as babies. I am also on MFK but prices are too steep for me. I think I'll go on and pass on the rays for now. At least till I get a better paying job and a bigger tank. Thanks for the input
 
I'm in Central IN. Maybe you can get in on a group order to TFD with us some time. Let me know what you're looking for and chances are I can find it. A friend of mine (Repair) on MFK has 40+ tanks and is constantly buying/trading/selling fish. If you're into cichlids he's the guy to see! lol

Also, you're right. Rays are legal here (luckily....I LOVE mine)
 
Once you get Retic. on shrimp or krill they're just as cool as Motoros. (unless I just have a special retic lol)
