Hey All,
I was looking on Ebay for driftwood and found some great pieces that woulod go great in the tank I'm getting ready to set up. The same piece at a fist store would probably be 8-10 times as much. The question, is the driftwood safe and what should I do to insure it's safe.
Thanks,
Todd:D

Sure it's safe. If you have any doubts, soak it for two days in salty brine and rinse well. ("Nasties" is not an adult category!)
Go for it!

you can also boil it if its small, or bake it to kill the germs, also, if its for a fresh tank, soak it for a few days in medicated freshwater to remove salt.

The biggest danger, IMHO, would be dealing with the seller.
Sellers are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get. ;)
But seriously, check the seller feedback rating, and go for it if they look OK.

I've got to second the suggestion to watch a seller's feedback!!!
Had both good and bad experiences on ebay, but never bad with a seller with a high percentage of good feedback.

I bougt driftwood from ebay, sorry I couldn't find the seller's name, it's been more than 90 days.
I soaked my piece in tap water for two weeks while I waited for my tank to cure than over the fishless cycle period it was fine.
My piece was bogwood from Louisiana or somewhere so it was already waterlogged at the time.
And odn't buy from a dealer without 99% positive feedback, it's just not worth the risk.
