its not what type of food, its whats in the food. i would go with high quality flakes like tetramin or something as well as suplemental feedings of live/frozen food and algae wafers

The goldfish can pretty much eat either flakes or sticks. As they can eat at the surface or at the bottom. The catfish normally have their mouths pointing down and must eat food that sink quickly before the goldfish eat it all. The food should contain a higher percentage of protein and the lower the ash content the better.

yep, flake is the medium course, in human world the flake is like the rice/bread/potatoes/spaghetti etc, the things we humans eat a lot. Then bloodworms and brine shrimp and other food like this is something like prime rib steak/meat etc (sorry if your vegetarian), something you dont have as much as the potatoes and stuff but still good in your diet. Then as the vegetables, algae wafers and stuff.

You will need to identify your fish in better detail to determine how heavy the diet should be in protein. Also, other supplements may be needed or styles such as sinking pellets.

Very true. For instance, catfish do well on sinking pellets and other supplements. Tetras are pretty good with freeze dried bloodworms, and flake food. Those are just 2 of many other matches for fish and their foods. The way a fish's mouth is also determines what kind of food they can eat. Catfish have their mouths at the bottom of their heads so eating off the gravel is great so floating pellets wouldn't. Get it?

brine shrimp, tetramin flakes, blood worms, spirulina flakes and the occasional pea for your goldfish helps so they don't get constipated I believe it helps to prevent swimbladder. For catfish a sinking type food is good. Variety is a good thing I alternate my fishes food.

Is your goldfish of the fancy variety? If so, they'll either need to be fed sinking pellets or pre-soaked flake food as feeding at the surface can lead to swim bladder problems. Feeding peas and oranges often can help combat this condition as well and makes for a healthy, tasty meal. As for your catfish, it depends on what type they are. If it's a bottom feeder, sinking shrimp pellets perhaps? If it's primarily an algae eating catfish then algae wafers and zucchini. And don't forget those frozen foods. As mentioned bloodworms and brine shrimp are great all around.
Like everyone said though, we don't know exactly what species of fish we're looking at here. But always remember, quality and variety is key.
