Just curious. Will a Krib do well on it's own, and if so what size planted tank would you consider a minimum for them.

I've got a 5g cycling now, but I'm thinking of finding room for a second small tank for a Krib.

A 10 gallon is as small as I'd go for 1.

hi, Just my own experience but a while ago i had a female krib in a tank along with a few different fish. The krib was fine on its own then one day i seen a male krib on its own at my LFS felt sorry for him so took him home. The difference in their colour now they are a pair is amazing. They now breed regular and as long as you have an outlet for the fry (your LFS will probably take them in exchange for food) this is the way to go. As for tank size 10g should be ok for a pair on their own, but bigger would be better.:)

I think they exhibit better behavior and colors if 2 are kept in a 15-20 gal tank.

Sometimes krib will be ok on their own in that small of a tank (as was my case) but definitely do not try to add anything else in there even other male krib. My poor male krib got beaten up by the female who was smaller than him!! Eventually i gave her away to my friend who to this day is still taking care of her although she seems so anti-social so she's in her own tank.
