I just added 5 Rasboras to my newly cycled 20 gallon tank. Today I have been noticing 2 of them body slamming...what does that mean? Is one weak and the other is trying to kill it; is one trying to establish dominance? It's very quick but they keep doing it. They swim side by side then WHAM, It happens so fast! One is larger than the other and they seem to take turns.

Any ideas???

What are your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings? How did you cycle?

Is it _only_ those 2 Rasboras? Or are the others doing it too? 'Cause I'm thinking it's only play, my tetras do the same thing. They chase each other around and it's really quick and they occasionally "slam" into each other - this usually results in some of my plants uprooting >__<.

Yes, I think it's just those two. They're kind of hard to tell apart but when I watch it's just the two.

I have noticed the same thing with 2 of mine and wondered if they could be trying to mate! I am a complete newbie so this is just me guessing - I have no idea how fish actually go about it or if you can tell m and f Rasboras apart. I will be interested to read what replies you get.
