I am not sure what is up with this guy... losing weight (girth) and not moving much for the last day or so. It's about 2 1/2 years old, 4" long and is in the tank with other more finicky fish (like angels) and they all seem fine.
Any ideas?
36 Gallon tank, about 12 fish total.

What are your water parameters?
The loss of weight and lethargicness may be caused by a parasite. Not sure though, hopefully somebody else knows more. >.>
(lovely cat though :()

it looks like a golden CAE to me
12 fish is alot if youve got angels in there.

Its tail looks a little ripped...did something attack it?
That is a gold CAE, so try to feed it algae wafers, bottom feeder wafers, and shrimp pellets, if you aren't already. The ones I've seen that are about that size are pretty small, but if you've noticed it getting skinnier, then something is probably wrong.
What all do you feed the fish?

Oh boy, lots of questions... I am not sure what kind of cat it is. I got it at Aquarium Services up here in Canada about 2 1/2 years ago. My other fish are as follows: 3 zebra danios (about 1 1/2" each), 2 Platys (female about 1 3/4" and male about 1"), 3 "roundish" tetras (about 1 1/2" each), 2 "long & skinny" tetras with highlites on their fin ends (about 1 1/4" each), one blue gourami (died fish... didn't know the history of that practice, will never get another un-natural fish) and finally my 2 angels (one about 4 1/2" tall and the other about 3" tall). All my fish came from Aquarium Services... no Wally fish here.
My water is very clear and about 78 degrees and I have a Fluval in-tank filter that I clean out every month or so... it has an indicator but I do it early... beyond that... I usually siphon about 20% every 2 months and replace it, I only feed once a day.
My losses have been 1 platy male about 3 months ago, one gourami about a month ago and now my cat. He passed late yesterday.
Before I do anything else, I am getting a test kit today to find out what the heck is going on with my ammonia (etc.) levels. I will post back here to get some advice on how to correct the problem before I get another cat. I will also appreciate any suggestions for types of cat that will co-exist happily with my other fish.
Thanks for all your answers and questions and hopefully, you guys will be able to help me out... with more relevant info forthcoming from me.

Possible old-tank syndrom. That test kit will help a lot in determining what could be the causes.
Personally I would like to see more or larger WCs...How often do you vac? How deep?
Any new additions lately??
Beautiful CAE btw :(

I'm also thinking about the gravel quality, as catfish spend most of their time on the gravel and they are sensitive to the muck and poo that can build up in the gravel.
It's important to keep the gravel in good condition with good vacuuming (including under the rocks) and an occasional stirring.
