Lighting question about the Eclipse 5

I have a 5 gallon hex tank made by Marineland and sold under the Eclipse line. It originally had an incadescent bulb but I have since replaced it with a 10w screw-in fluorescent. I wanted to add a 20w 6500k screw-in but the hood says 15 watt maximum.
I would like to know, is the 15 watt warning is because of the heat issues with an incadescent and therefore would be safe to use the above mentioned CF? The hood on my 10g has two CF's in it, with the same type of sockets, switch, and gauge of wiring but that hood says a maximum of 25 watts per bulb. The only real difference is the 5g has a plastic "lid" between the light fixture and the water, the 10g does not. The lid is not needed to hold the fixture.
Has anyone else used this tank before? Would it be safe to bump the 5g up to a 20 watt bulb, perhaps remove the plastic lid? Thanks
