The smaller of my Blue Diamonds has developed a white bump on its forehead, kind of like a pimple. This has happened once before. When it happened last, after a few days, the white stuff went away, leaving a small bruise/indent. I can't say HITH or HLLE because I've seen the pics and the craters on those affected fish don't look anything like the little bruise on my BD. After a few days, the bruise clears. Now the fish doesn't act any different than the others. Neither of the other discus have developed anything like that. I'd say the discus is going thru puberty, but I don't know. Water params.:

0 Ammonia
0 Nitrite
?? Nitrate - 70% pwc every 2 days
pH - 7.8 ish
Temp. - steady 86.4 F (thank you temp controller)

Conditioned water - 25 gal. garbage can filled by city tap.

I'll try and get pics of the fish later.

this same type of ailment will hit one of my wild angels..

these tanks get 40% wc 2-3 x per week..

to this day I haven't figured out what it was..just keep up with the partial water changes and keep an eye on the diet.

oh yeah, diet - consists of 50% blackworms, 50% other
other changes between frozen beefheart (not very often), flake (even more rare), and frozen bloodworms.

are the blackworms you feed live?

oh no!!!i think that if u feed live blackworms that it may transit disease causing pathogens

discus love warm water ..parasites don't

many times the remedy is add salt and bump the temps. I've had discus to 90 with no ill effect.(if you do this add an airstone)

yeah, the blackworms are live. The LFS sells them as tubifex worms, but I've heard that tubifex are illegal in CA. I've compared the "tubifex" worms from my LFS to the blackworms ordered online, and they are all identical.

I checked this morning, took some shots, and the zit is gone. Very strange. Discus is as normal as ever.

I quit using tubifex when I had a parasite outbreak after feeding these.

I was under the impression that black worms were different tho. but still it depends on where the 'black' worms come from..aquacultured raised n a controlled environment they should be fine..

did the 'zits' pop? if they did ..did they emit a stringy substance??

the ones on my angel never popped..they turned red then crusted over and went away..she has since only had one more outbreak.

I do large water changes in this tank teice weekly and top off with RO now.

I've never seen the zits pop. They just went away. I never saw anything come out from it either. Weird

i think u better change ur live blackworms to something safer like brine shrimp or mealworm or earthworms or better is bloodworms.
