Hello folks first post here. I have had my tank for nearly ten years I recently did a complete upgrade and bought a new sump, powerheads, some new live rock and such. I have a 75 gallon rectangular tank with a 3 gallon overflow and a 20 gal sump with about 1.5 inches of live sand in the bottom of the tank and sump. I have about 70-85 lbs of live rock, a mag 700 and 4 powerheads. I figure between Rock and Sand and Sump I have 50-60 gallons of actual water...I may be off on that.

So far I have two mature clowns at about 3" and 3.5"

My question is (and Ive read all over about the inch stocking capacity ranging everywhere between 2 inches per 10 gallons to 5-6 inches per 10 gallons.

What I am contemplating is the following stocklist but I fear its way too much and I wanted to see everyones opinion on the mix of fish. I am aiming for a peaceful set up with compatible fish.

What I would like is:

Hippo/Blue Tang
Yellow Tang
Flame DwarfAngel or Coral Beauty Angel
4-5 chromis
Sailfin Blenny
Yellow Tail or 3 stripe damsel
Scarlet Cleaner shrimp

about 50 snails (Turbos, bumblebee, ceriths and narssarius) and 50 hermits (blue Leg/Scarlet)

I fear thats too many fish (especially given the Tangs) using those fish (or substituting a firefish or 6 line wrasse) or peppermint shrimp (I have had some Aipistia problems in the past).

Thanks for your advice.. and glad to be here, seems like a informative site/forum.

Ditch the damsels they get mean, and I would only do one tang if it where me.

sounds good to me! i would add the tangs towards the end and together...also leave out the damsel...they get real mean. and of coarse dont add em all at once lol...as for snails...dont need to add that many just see how adding 25 each does for u. peppermints wont always eat aiptasia...and the blue tang might get to big...but it all comes down to u really.

So short of the damsels the amount of fish isnt way overboard given my sump/bioball-sand refugium? I also get that the tangs might not get along (even given different colors/patterns and if I introduce them simultaniously)

I have had both the damsels they are a bit territorial but I added them after most other fish so maybe I was just lucky...hard to pass up those beautiful colors though.

If your leaving out the damsels, then yes, the stocking list is fine....

As said above, i dont see any issues with keeping both of them tangs, as long as they are not introduced together...
