About 5 months ago,I purchased four 1 1/2 inch dempseys. One started growing a lot faster than the others so i figured it to be the dominant male.About a month later he paired off with one of the others an i removed them to another tank. The more they grow, the more it seems that they are both males. Both have pointed and a little hooked anal and dorsal fins and almost identical coloration.Right now,the dominant one is about 6 inches and the other is about 5. Up until yesterday, they have been "going through the motions" of breeding.Making a large crater at the back of the tank, cleaning off a clay pot,and their mating ritual.
Now the larger one runs the other one all over the tank.
Should i move one of them to another tank or let them be?I hate for the smaller one to get hurt or worse.
Is it possible for 2 males to "pair up"?
I am really confused about this.Any help would be very much appreciated.
