Anyone use a gravel vac approximately this size? I have short stubby one that I use for my 24" tall aquarium and I'm afraid one of these days I'm going to suck in one of my fishies. I have some plants now and later when they grow I would need a skinny vac to get in between the plants.

Pop off the large tube section and just syphon with the air-line tube; still works (this is how I syphon out the fry tanks). Or they also sell a smaller version -- I've seen 3 sizes sold at Wally-World.

Hmm, I can probably try the pop-off technique. I need to put some kind of stop valve though so I don't lose prime and I need something to attach to the tube make a little more rigid for control.

I have a small gravel vac. I used a barb hose fitting from Manards to hook to mine. Then a garden hose shut off valve to stop the water if I need to. Then I hooked up a garden hose to that so I have a home made python.

bert, how long is that gravel vac?

Mine is a few feet from the end of the gravel vac to the garden hose connector. I have enough hose so I can have one hand on the the gravel vac and the other on the shut off valve just in case I suck up a fish. The rest of the hose is around 40 feet to go out the front door.

Hope that helps,
Jeremy
