I just started a 40g FW tank and I found this site while browsing Fish to stock my Tank with and so I figured I would introduce myself here.
I grew up around fish as my parents had to 55g Hex tanks with various FW fish but eventually over the years the fish died and we stopped keeping fish.
A year ago my girlfriend bought me a goldfish and we had it for about a month until we wanted to find a friend for the lil guy so we went to the local Petsmart here and they had a Large (about 2 1/2 in. at the time) fancy goldfish for free at the store. (It was being harassed by the other fish in the tank the previous owner had it in. It is goldfish black and i think its in the Veil tail variety but i dunno the specifics. It was a 35 dollar fish though that i got for free so i took it. We ended up getting a 20g tank and put the two goldfish in the tank a week later after we cycled the tank. We ended up adding a dwarf frog, a Dojo Loach and a common Placostomis. The original goldfish died about 4 months ago (grew from about 2 in. to 4) and I replaced him with another fancy goldfish (orange) and he is about 2 1/2 inches long now. I will try to post pictures soon if I can.
Last month I bought a 40g tank at Petco mainly because I wanted to start a SW tank, but after factoring out the costs and everything I decided to go with FW instead and now I am in the process of stocking the tank. So far I have 4 Red Swordtails and 4 Black Mollies. Tonight I am going to go and buy some more fish to continue stocking the tank.
Anywho I just thought I would say hello as I'm sure I will be around these parts for a while.
