Hey guys. I actualy work in a fish store but no one has been able to give me a real answere to this question. I had a clown pleco for a while and noticed all my plants were getting holes in them. I assumed it was him so i got rid of him yesterday but now the guys at work say that plecos dont eat plants. has anyone els heard of plecos eating plants? i mean theres no one els in my tank who would be able to and someone has been chewing holes through the leaves of my java fern.

do you have driftwood for it? hunger from lack of wood may be making him chew on the leaves if he is the culprit.

Round holes in plants might also come from potassium deficiency.

I have a bristlenose and also holes in all plants. But I'm not sure whether he really is the culprit. I guess the plants already have problems, and then the rasping might make the problems visible ;).

old leaves in need of pruning can also develop holes.
