Have a couple questions

super long story short my girlfriend's friend cant have his 40 gallon salt water tank anymore so I'm getting it tomorrow..Now i have a 55 gallon with live sand , filter, light, etc. etc. everythings set all i need is the living things and thats my question lol..whats the safest/easiest way to get a couple Anemones from one tank another? also how do I get them off a rock or side of the tank or whever they might be? Ive been reading up on a some stuff and foudn out that with live rock i just wrap it in newspaper and dip it into the tank water until its soaked then bring it to my tank and put it back in then remove the paper. is this right? any other tips to transporting please? Its about 45-50 mins away i have 2 50 gallon rubbermaid buckets ready

Couldn't you just put water from his tank in the bucket so the anemones and live rock are under water? Make sure to acclimate them to your tank water.

Instead of the big rubbermaid buckets (50 gallon), I would get some smaller 5 gallon buckets (maybe 3 or 4). I would take the anemones out the tank leaving them on the rock or whatever else they are attached to and put them in the smaller buckets. That way you could more easily carry them. You might be able to fit the live rock into the smaller buckets as well with some water. If not, you probably could just pile it into your big rubbermaid buckets.

When I moved my LR from the fish store, they put it in a box for me and I just took it home. I don't think that it kills LR to be out of the water for a little while.

yea dont try to remove them u will most likely harm then and even kill them just use buckets with the water...make sure u drip acclimate them though so they dont die from stress.

thanks guys for the tips now for the anemones one is on a rock which is easy to pick up and put into a bucket of water but theres one in the sandbed..how would i go about getting him? do i just reach in and grab him? sorry my saltwater knowledge is about 0

yea if its in the sand u can carefully poke it off under the sand dont pull or prod or yank. carefully push the foot loose form the glass bottom after u move the sand.
