I'm going to be putting plants into a tank and I need to know what plants need to be rooted in to survive? The gravel stuff you buy at pet stores, little rocks or what do you need?

A lot of people with planted tanks use Flourite. I have small gravel and pure Laterite mixed in with it. If it is a new tank I would go with Flourite or Onyx sand maybe. Mine was already set up when I decided to go planted. So I just mixed the Laterite into what I already had.
